Hello, my name is Claire Reaburn. I am married to Peter and have two lovely daughters, Rebecca and Megan.
At the age of 53 years I was diagnosed with a rare ovarian cancer called Juvenile Granulosa Cell Tumour (jgct).  I gained the unwanted title of oldest female in the world,  diagnosed with jgct.
There is no research about jgct, that is why this project is so vital. Being prescribed a medication based on ‘best guess’ drains hope and leads to poor survival.
Your donation will work towards enabling me and other females like me, to grow older and become grown up daughters, mothers, aunts and grandmothers. Thank you for being part of a world first research project that will ultimately help extend the life of many of us.

  1. A great cause. We need more research on juvenile granulosa cell cancer. Too many partners, children, parents and other loved ones are impacted by this shit of a disease. It’s time something was done.

  2. Mum, I know I’m the apple of your eye, but you are also mine xx

Proud of every little thing you do to make this cancer known.

  3. A great cause. A needed cause. So little is known about juvenile granulosa cell cancer. Too many mothers, daughters, sisters, parents, aunties and other loved ones are impacted by this shit of a disease. It’s time we all rallied for the cause. More research means more lives saved.

  4. We are lucky to have a wonderful friend like Bec, and she is lucky to have a wonderful family like you! F*ck cancer and don’t stop fighting! ♥️ Elo and Emo xx

  6. My thoughts and prayers ❤️ You’re a strong woman Claire with beautiful family surrounding you x FUCK cancer!!

  7. Although I don’t know Claire as well as I know her husband through my university studies and later my career, I still feel connected. I remember Peter missing a lecture as Claire had given birth to their first child, then later on I was asked to babysit their daughters, which helped pay my way through university. I have not spoken to Claire in over 20 years but I do know she is the rock of her family and is adored by Peter and their daughters. This is why I am donating as she is a beautiful person who does not deserve this diagnosis. Sending hugs and prayers for a miraculous healing.

  8. It takes a special kind of courage to turn a rare cancer diagnosis into something so positive and impactful to the community – and I truly wouldn’t expect anything less from such a special kind of woman! Very few people stare into the eyes of adversity and choose to make something so positive out of it (I know I wouldn’t). And for that, I’m so inspired to donate to this great cause. I had never heard of jgct.

On a more personal note, growing up and spending many years of friendship with Megan, I was lucky enough to meet the people who brought her into this world! Claire, (and Peter), you were and still are always so kind and generous and understanding (not only to me, but to so many of Megan’s friends) and for that I’m grateful. You always were the ‘cool parents’ and such great role models and active citizens in your community (wherever it may have been).

All of the comments I’ve read and seen not only demonstrate the love, respect and admiration for you Claire, but remind me how many strong and  caring women there are in the world – and how without women like you, our world would be a very different place.

$50 isn’t much (hopefully one day and can be a lot more) but I hope it helps and was an easy choice over some online shopping tonight. I sleep easier tonight knowing what little I can contribute may help fund some great initiatives and research into this horrible sounding cancer.

    Keep kicking ass Reaburns!
    Jake

Of course, many thanks to Bec for sharing this so it came across my news feed ♡

  9. Glad you kicked it to the sidewalk Claire 👌🏻😉 I hope donations will help find a way to understand it better and beat it. Regards Darren

  10. Claire you are an inspiration to your family and friends. I am so glad to call you my friend. Always here for you love Sandy x

  11. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Pete, Rebecca and Megan. Here’s to a bright future. Peter Fernley
